P.C.C.MEETINGThe Arlington and East Down church meeting was held on October 14th in the East Down Village hall. One of the main subjects for discussion was the planning for the forthcoming concert to be held in St John?s Church East Down on Saturday, December 5th in the evening. The Exmoor carollers and the poet Joyce Moon will be performing and we are hoping that this will attract a full church. All details of the concert will be in the November Magazine. There will be lots of ?Christmassy food?, mulled wine, non-alcoholic wine and soft drinks. Altogether it should be a wonderful warm up for Christmas.Essential work has been carried out in East Down Church to the electrical system and the earthing of the electrics which needed overhauling. New and better lighting is also being installed and should be ready in time for Christmas. The latch on the gate through to the Court from Arlington Church has been altered to make it easier to open from both sides and for wheel chair access. A new safer cover for the water tank in the churchyard has also been made. The Autumn programme for both churches includes the REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE on November 8th at the cross at East Down, followed by a communion service at 11-30am in St James church Arlington. On November 29th the 5th Sunday team service (Advent Sunday) will be held in Shirwell Church.
